What do designer Karl Lagerfeld and rapper Snoop Dogg have in common besides very identifiable styles? The two have made a cameo appearance alongside one another in a new music video for French singer/songwrite/DJ Jean Roch. Lagerfeld plays a heavenly father-like figure, while Snoop and Jean Roch explain why Saint-Tropez is heaven on earth. So, I guess they share a common love for Saint-Tropez as well – thats TWO things!

Schiaparelli Relaunch

In the wake of the recent attention that the MET Gala theme “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” has brought back to the notorious Schiaprelli label, Tod’s owner Deigo Della Valle has decided to revive the brand that has remained inactive since 1954. Della Valle has released his plans to hire a designer in September, with the hopes of launching a line of clothing, along with cosmetics and accessories in Februrary 2013. This project involves a store opening in Paris on 21 Place Vendôme, which is the precise location in which the label’s founder Elsa Schiaparelli opened her first location. Della Valle is also responsible for the tremendous success of the 2002 relaunch of the Roger Vivier footwear label.

Sid Neigum Wins TFI’s New Label Competition

Alberta native Sid Neigum was the last man standing in the Toronto Fashion Incubator’s New Labels Fashion Design competition. After months of designing, intense competition and consultation from varied industry experts, the modest 23 year old accepted the generous prize at the annual gala event last Thursday. Neigum’s Fall/Winter 2012 winning collection was displayed to the TFI judges, and included a variation of structured, androgynous pieces, that were true to the designer’s modern aesthetic. The winning collection awarded Neigum with a prize of $25,000 cash, a feature in Flare Magazine, a design studio at TFI sponsored by The New Trend boutique, and most importantly the relationships and the exposure garnered throughout the process.

Swedish bloggers seem to have made quite the impression on the fashion blogesphere as of late – Elin Kling and Caroline Blomst have become internet fashion celebrities in their own right. Enter Columbine Smille; though she has been around the net for a couple years, she has recently been producing quite the buzz with her unique, editor-worthy style. This Stockholm based beauty is a stylist for Elin Kling’s magazine “Style By”. When she is not busy styling an editorial shoot or being interviewed for numerous magazines and websites, she is serving as a featured Topshop editor. Ms. Smille was chosen by the infamous highstreet retailer to handpick some of her favourite pieces from their current collection: the edit will be displayed in stores for a limited time.
