Q: I have very small eyes and because of this you can barely see my eye lids (like Catherine Zeta Jone’s eyes). This means you can barely see my eye shadow when I put it on, which I hate because I love playing with colours. How can I make my eyes appear larger and be able to see the eye shadow colours better for my prom night?

A: Hello Kristine,
Don’t fret! We are blessed with different features and there are always ways of making them more pronounced. One way of making small eyes appear bigger is lining the bottom eye lid with some white eye liner. The key is getting the white pencil right in at the lash line which will give them a more wide eyed appearance – perfect for girls with smaller set eyes. As for getting your eye shadow more visible there are a few tricks you can do to accomplish that. First, bring the shadow up a little higher than the crease of your eye lid. This will give the eye lid a little more depth and you will be able to see the colour on your eyes. Another helpful hint is bringing the shadow out towards the corner of your eyes giving the eyes a more winged look, or what we call a cat eye. The trick is to blend, blend, blend. You should never see where one colour starts or stops.

Q: I love knowing about the best bronzers and best make up for the summer. Could you share some examples of ways to wear your makeup so you look good near the ocean, pool or simply on the street?
Thanks, Kristen
A: Hello Kristen
Well, for summer it is always all about the sun kissed look, but remember you don’t have to spend all your time in the sun. If you do indulge in the sun’s rays, please remember to use your SPF. There are plenty of products out there that will give you a bronzed glow without the harmful rays of the sun. I like to keep my summer look really fresh and clean. During the warm months, there’s no need to hide behind a full face of makeup. A little tinted moisturizer, a bronzer, mascara and gloss is all you need. You can also use your bronzer on your eye lids as an eye shadow. Remember to use your bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face (forehead, temples &cheeks). Keep your skin looking dewy is always a must. Stay away for the setting powders and if you have freckles don’t make them disappear – show them off! A little pinky gloss or a berry lip stain and off you go! Lip stains are great if you’re spending time in the water, they’re long lasting and won’t fade. Don’t forget your waterproof mascara! Just say no to raccoon eyes!
